When can I sign up for an individual health plan?
This year’s open enrollment is November 1, 2017 through January 15, 2018. This is the only time you can purchase individual medical unless you qualify for special enrollment period.
- Some of the ways you can qualify for special enrollment period are:
- Involuntarily losing health insurance (ie: from employer)
- Losing Apple Health (Medicaid) because you no longer qualify
- Getting married
- Relocating to Washington State
- Birth of a child
*Note you don’t qualify for special enrollment if you voluntarily cancel your health insurance OR if you lose coverage for not paying premium.
How much does it cost?
It depends. Different companies have different costs based on the level of coverage and their provider network. In general (not always), plans that have lower monthly premiums- often require more out of pocket costs (like deductibles, copays) when you go to doctor. Additionally, often plans that have smaller networks of doctors are less expensive than plans that have larger networks. If you contact us, we can provide you with a quote.
How is my specific rate determined?
Your premium is based on your age, zip code and whether you are a smoker or non-smoker. Your premium may also be reduced if you qualify for financial help. Contact us to see if you qualify.
